2019. It came, it swore, it conquered. We kicked it off with Day of the Deadbeats number 9 and celebrated a special 10th out on the road Tap Social Movement – then number 11 and 12 left us with yet more amazing memories and friends. Our awesome friend and guitarist Jake Swinhoe left us for pastures new and The Deadbeats cried but became 5. Our 2nd festival was beautiful beyond belief and full to the brim with amazing Oxford talent. We fought for our friends at the The Isis River Farmhouse who were taken down and beaten by all around them and came out the other side fighting fit and continuing to be eternally grateful for their support for local music and our visions. Our good, bad and uglies were snapped by Jeff Slade and Jason Warner at Fyrefly Studios and the local legend that is Tim Hughes allowed us to shout about our world and visions in the The Oxford Times and Oxford Mail. Friends, family, strangers and all those in between risked off the scale gales and biblical weather to come and hear our little old sets and we even got our acoustic shizzle on at the ever wonderful The Chester and for Restore at Cowley Road Carnival. We had the privilege of cracking open Thame Town Music Festival and joined the Cornbury Festival crew for the first time. We had the honour of supporting our hero Jim Jones and the Righteous Mind group at the ever awesome The Bullingdon for LoveMusic HateRacism and launched our EP at the amazing new look Port Mahon with our favourite local band The August ListRyan C. Quarterman at Future Human Design created a visual beauty to our protest song Muddy Creek and we had the honour of it being included in Nightshift Magazine‘s top 25 tracks of the year. We laughed till we cried, drank too much and stayed up too late discovering the past ventures, deep thinking’s and souls of our fellow Deadbeats and together discovered music, music and more music. We waffled on and messed around on BBC Oxford Radio and Windrush Radio and danced round the room like 8 year olds when our songs were played on the wireless. Basically, we kept the Deadbeats rolling for another year because of all of you lot and the sheer love of what we do. Felling lucky punk? We sure are. Nothing makes us happier then the band – having comrades in arms, writing songs, creating music, jumping around on stage like loons, wearing stupid outfits and having a band of brothers and sisters. Basically – we’ve had some fun y’all – thank you for letting us be the Deadbeats. Recording of our new material starts January 18th – fasten your seat belts – we reckon it’ll be another bumpy ride – photo by Fyrefly Studios

What better way to start the year than with some new Deadbeat material and recording sessions! We are back at the…
